Fall is fast approaching and the art season is gearing up! We've had many exciting developments at Arts Quinte West over the summer, with the new gallery opening, beginning the process to incorporate the organization, and planning well underway for new fall events. We're looking forward to a great turnout at our next General Meeting.

Our speakers will be our own Communications Director, Penny Olorenshaw, and her partner Eric Davidson, co-owners of local creative agency poloDesign, who will give a presentation called "Communicating the Arts through Social Media". Penny and Eric's company built our website and continues to be an ongoing sponsor of the site, and Penny looks after our Facebook page and now our Twitter account. Recognizing that many of our members may be new to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and blogging, we asked Penny and Eric to provide us with an overview of how artists of all disciplines can utilize these tools to share their work and build a following of supporters. Through poloDesign, Eric and Penny have presented numerous seminars on social media for business and the arts from Cobourg to Belleville. This fall, they will continue their popular bi-weekly Social Media Brown Bag Lunches through the Small Business Centre, beginning on September 21. Many of you may remember that at our first general meeting in 2010, Penny gave an informative talk about the various website options available to artists, and we look forward to learning about how social media can help us reach more arts afficionados.

We'll also hear about plans for upcoming events such as Savour, the Moments juried show and Art Squared as well as our major event of the year, Arts Extravaganza.

Bring along a piece of your work to show (and an easel, please) and bring a friend too! The meeting is open to everyone with an interest in supporting the arts in Quinte West and new members are warmly welcomed. Let's get social!
