Edith Kliesch

Edith Arndt Kliesch emigrated from East Gernany and lived in Toronto and several cities in southern Ontario before retiring to Frankford. Encouraged in her studies by noted Canadian painter and sculptress, Pauline Redsell, Edith explored a variety of media, but working and raising a family took her attention for many years. Following her retirement, Edith has returned to her art, developing a distinctive modernist style in her painting and multimedia works. In clay, she has created a series of highly detailed renditions of various types of footwear.

Artist's Statement

Travelling throughout Canada,  you cannot help seeing the uniqueness in different cultures, and the beauty and warmth in people and the land. I try to express that feeling in my work, in the mediums of acrylic, graphite and clay.
