Edith Lepage Crete, originally from Northern Ontario ,has travelled and lived in many towns and cities across Canada. While pursuing her teaching career, Edith developed her talent as a visual art facilitator and attended post bac. courses in education/art at the Universite de St Boniface in Manitoba in 1996.
She taught various visual art courses for several years at a dual track (arts and academics) francophone school in Winnipeg to students from kindergarten to grade twelve. She also offered workshops for teachers on how to integrate visual art as part of their curriculum.
Soon her passion for history merged in her acrylic paintings. Reading historical publications such as“ Les Relations des Jesuits” inspired her to do large compositions on canvas of major historical events of New-France.
Edith pursued her education by attending painting courses with artists, such as Bruce St Clair , Denis Gagnon, and renowned Manitoban artist painter Andrew Giffin who made art for movies staring actors such as Kiefer Sutherland, Jane Seymour and James Brolin .
During a 4 years posting in Ohio USA, 2009-2013, she received private painting lessons with Gary Halsey who spent most of his artistic career in New York City working for many known personalities such Glen Close.
