As far back as I can remember I have always drawn or painted and I am primarily selftaught. I was born in Manchester, England, and after WW11, my father who had trained with the RAF in Calgary, Alberta, decided Canada was the ideal place in which to bring up a family - so we emigrated - and so right he was.
From my parents I gained an appreciation for texture and colour - from my father who worked with wood and my mother who worked with fabric. My style in painting is very precise probably due to having worked as a draftsperson, a seamstress and a microbiologist, lines of work that required precision and accuracy, and also due to my intense interest in the workings of nature to the smallest detail.
Photography is also a passion of mine and many an hour have I spent with camera in hand exploring the back roads of Ontario observing the wonders and beauty of nature which I then portray in oils, watercolour, soft pastel or acrylics depending on what medium the subject demands.
