dBernd Photography
Born in Toronto, raised in Muskoka with a short migration to Calgary. Bernd now residing in Brighton, and has had a camera in his hands most of his life. BJ to his family and close friends began photography as a hobby, even attempting to find his way into fashion and commercial photography through the back door approach, till it was nailed shut.
The past decade found Bernd exploring new avenues with the purchase of an old Yashica-A model 120 film camera. Through an accidental double exposure while on vacation in Sedona, Bernd began the process of recreating that accident on purpose. With a renewed passion for photography, Bernd set out to capture in his unique images the magic of two scenes in one. " It's been this love/ ??? scenario when someone first views one of my works." " When you travel down a road less traveled you tend to expect that kind of reaction." Being a bit of a pioneer throughout his life, Bernd has encountered many situations where he has had to create outside the box. Double exposures carries on that uniqueness.
With the slow demise of film, Bernd acquired a digital camera and began the new learning curve to replicate digitally where he left off in film. " The old way in film no longer applies in digital. " l had to find a new way digitally to carry on my vision, and after nine months it's beginning to happen." Bernd does the single shot type of photography but as Bernd says, " It's difficult these days to create a "jaw dropping" single shot when there are so many excellent photographers out there." Bernd wouldn't that slow him down. " There is still too much to capture and too many stones to turn over. Every day is new."
