New Gallery in Quinte West
Quinte West is getting a new art gallery!
Arts Quinte West is pleased to announce that we will be opening our own art gallery in downtown Trenton. Located at 84 Dundas Street West near Division Street, the new gallery will allow us to show and promote the work of our members and to encourage all of the arts in our region. Thanks to a generous offer from Jamie Troke of Coldwell Banker Ekort Realty, we are able to realize our dream of a home for the Arts in Quinte West.
All members are welcome to exhibit and we can accommodate books, jewellry, three dimensional works, paintings, photography and more. All items will be available for purchase and we will carry smaller items such as cards and prints as well as original works. The gallery includes an ideal space for arts-related workshops and we have already had a number of members express interest in hosting an event. In addition to our new space, we will continue our successful AQW Showcase program that takes art into the Quinte West community at the Quinte West City Hall and other locations.
Join us for our Grand Opening on Thursday, June 14 at 10am with Mayor John Williams in attendance. Starting Friday, June 15, the gallery will be open each week from Wednesday to Saturday from 11am - 5pm and on Sundays from 2pm - 5pm. For the moment, this is a three-month pilot project (until August 31, 2012) which we hope will continue long after the initial trial period. We hope the art gallery will become a destination for both local art lovers and tourists visiting Quinte and Prince Edward County, particularly boaters on the Trent-Severn Waterway system.
The gallery is the next step in fulfilling our mandate:
The purpose of Arts Quinte West is to bring together people of all disciplines of the Arts with a common goal to encourage, promote and showcase their talents by staging appropriate events in Quinte West thereby raising awareness of the Arts and enhancing the quality of life in the community.
See you at the gallery!
