For more information and to register for the luncheon, see the event details on our calendar.

Other recipients of this year's awards are Gordon Craig, Suzanne Pasternak, William Fisher, Susan Walsh and The Baxter Arts Centre.

From the Quinte Arts Council announcement:

Suzanne Andrews has been a driving force behind Arts Quinte West (AQW). She is currently the manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce and uses her expertise and skill to support the arts in her community. “She is not an artist, but an intense lover of art,” writes Frances E. Luymes, vice-president of AQW, adding that Suzanne has been an invaluable asset to her organization with everything from the incorporation to finding locations within Quinte West for artists to show their work.

Artist Mandy Bing also praises Suzanne for her promotion of the arts and adds that she is “magnificently organized… her commitment to Quinte West is impeccable.” Christine Pellati, one of the founding members of AQW, calls her “the glue that holds the group together. An avid lover of the arts, she has been on the board in various capacities, most recently Chair and Treasurer, and is the person who has the business experience, contacts and know-how that we have always been able to depend on. Her enthusiasm and sense of obligation to the club knows no bounds and she continues to promote our mandate whenever and wherever she has the chance.”

Currently Suzanne is the General Manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce and has an extensive background in Communications and Community Affairs that has developed over the years through a variety of work experience. She has been in her current position at QWC since 2006 and during this time has also served on the Board for Chamber Executives of Ontario since 2008 and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce since 2013.

Upon graduation from the Broadcasting Program at Algonquin College, Suzanne was offered a position in the Ottawa studio of Global News, where she worked with Peter Truman on the World Report. Eventually this led to a 3-year position in the Broadcasting Department at The House of Commons where Suzanne developed her interest in politics Department and effect they had on our everyday lives.

Her marriage to Stephen, Search and Rescue Technician in the Canadian Air Force, brought her Canada’s west coast where she enjoyed the beautiful landscape of Vancouver Island. While in BC Suzanne worked for Cogeco Television in Vancouver Island studios and enjoyed covering Municipal Politics along with other events.

After moving to Trenton 1994 Suzanne took 5 years off to spend with her young family and explore this part of Ontario. This is when she fell in love with the area and the people that lived here knew this is where she wanted to raise her family.

In 1999 the opportunity came to move to Labrador for 3 years and experience living in one of Canada’s more isolated areas. Suzanne went to work for the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay to organize a conference for Mayors from all along the Eastern SeaBoard to examine the challenges facing these communities. After the success of this event Suzanne was asked by Memorial University to organize a conference for all the Mayors of Labrador sponsored by the provincial government. The challenge of this event was huge as many of the small communities scattered throughout Labrador were isolated and the residents from a variety of cultures. This conference, which takes place every 10 years, examined the future for Labrador and its communities.

In 2001 Suzanne was offered the job as Executive Director for the Central Labrador Tourism Association and worked with local businesses and the Province to develop the Tourism product in Labrador and to promote area.

Suzanne and her family moved back to Quinte West in 2002 and her husband retired out of the Air Force so they could finally settle down in the community they wanted to call home. Suzanne worked for the Westben Arts Festival Theatre in Campbellford and was the Chair of the Northumberland County Tourism Advisory Committee for three years before she accepted the position at the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce.
