Arts Extravaganza 2011
Arts Extravaganza 2011 is a show and sale of original works of art. It will feature paintings, photography, tinwork, silk painting and more by twenty of our members.
Trenton – October 11, 2011 – What would you call a day-long event with professional artists showing their latest work, entertainment by local musicians and a juried exhibition of student work with a People’s Choice Award? Arts Quinte West calls it Arts Extravaganza 2011 and it will be held at Trenton High School on Saturday, November 12 from 10am – 4pm.
Event organizer Mandy Bing noted, “‘Arts Extravaganza 2011’ is a show and sale of original works of art. It will feature paintings, photography, tinwork, silk painting and more by twenty of our members. After three years of presenting in a smaller venue, we felt the time was right to expand the show. We have so many new members who want to display their work; moving the show to the Gymnasium at Trenton High School lets us accommodate everyone, and gives us room to showcase the student talent there.”
“We’ve been looking for an opportunity to work with and encourage young artists in our area,” said Christine Pellati, Chair of Arts Quinte West. “We approached Sue Tripp and the Arts Program at Trenton High School and they were thrilled to be able to take part. The public will have an opportunity to choose their favourite student work for a People’s Choice Award, and the recipient will receive gift certificates for arts supplies donated by local companies.”
THS’ involvement extends to the creation of the event’s poster through a student design competition in the Grade 12 art class. “Sue Tripp’s enthusiasm has helped immensely to bring this project together and we were very impressed by the quality of the poster designs the students submitted,” said Mandy Bing.
Leading up to the Christmas season, the show is a perfect opportunity to purchase work by talented local artists, either to spruce up your home for the holidays or as a special gift for a loved one. Musicians from local music schools as well as Trenton High School’s Music program will provide entertainment all day, and refreshments will be available. Admission is free and open to all.
